Effective

Goodnight Otter is a puzzle game for iPhone made by DATALOGIC CONSULTANTS LIMITED (“we”). This page explains, in plain language, what the app and this website collect. The short version: the app sends a few anonymous signals about how rafts are played, nothing is linked to you, nothing is used for tracking or ads, and the website collects nothing.

What the app sends

The app uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to send anonymous usage signals. They tell us which rafts feel too hard or too easy, so we can tune them. The app sends a signal when:

Each of these comes with the raft number, its kind (level, daily or endless), how many otters it has and its difficulty score. TelemetryDeck also sends a signal when a session starts, and adds basic technical details to every signal: the app version, the iOS version, the iPhone model and screen size, language, region and time zone settings, the day and hour, and whether a few accessibility settings (such as Reduce Motion or Bold Text) are on.

To count how many different people play without knowing who they are, TelemetryDeck uses a device identifier that is salted and hashed on your iPhone before anything is sent. It can’t be turned back into your device or used to find you.

None of this is linked to you. The signals contain no name, email, account, location or anything you type, and they are never used for tracking, for advertising, or sold. We look at them only as totals and averages.

What the app doesn’t do

What stays on your iPhone

Your game progress (which rafts and daily rafts you’ve finished, and a raft you left halfway) and your settings (sound, haptics and clam numbers) are saved on your iPhone with iOS’s standard app storage (UserDefaults). The app never sends them anywhere. They may be included in your own iPhone backups, and deleting the app deletes them.

If you tap Share on a results card, the text goes only where you choose to send it.

Crash reports

The app has no crash-reporting service of its own. If you’ve chosen to share analytics with app developers (Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and diagnostics. Apple’s privacy policy covers that.

Test builds

Beta builds from TestFlight keep a playtest log on the device: one row per raft attempt, with the raft, its size and difficulty, when it started, how it ended, the time taken, and the moves, undos, mistakes and hints. It leaves the device only if a tester chooses to share it. App Store builds keep no playtest log.

This website

goodnightotter.app sets no cookies, has no analytics and makes no requests to anyone else: its fonts and images are served from this domain. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles the connection to deliver the pages and keep the site safe from abuse, as any web host does.

Children

Goodnight Otter is rated 4+. It collects no personal data from anyone, children included: the anonymous signals above are the same for every player, and there are no ads, purchases or accounts.

Your rights

Data protection law gives you rights over personal data held about you. Because the signals can’t be linked to you, we can’t pick out yours, but you’re welcome to ask us anything about them.

Changes to this policy

If what the app or website collects changes, we’ll update this page before that version is released and change the effective date at the top.
